The Laurier AKF karate club is a member of the Ohtsuka Amateur Karate Foundation.Previously located in Callingwood, the club has been located in Laurier Heights since 2017. Our karate program is designed for all ages with no previous martial arts experience required. Classes feature vigorous physical workouts, lessons in technique, partner exercises, and practical self-defence instruction in a manner that is safe and tailored to each age group. Youth and Adult classes may also feature grappling and weapons such as knives and bos. Our black belt instructors are dedicated volunteers with significant martial arts knowledge and experience to share.
Programs Offered
FALL 2025 TERM: Mondays, September 8 – December 15
No classes on Monday, October 13, Thanksgiving
WINTER 2026 TERM: Mondays, January 12 – April 27
No classes on February 16, Family Day and April 6, Easter Monday
Little Dragons (ages 5-7)
Classes: Mondays, 6:30pm – 7:15pm
Fees: $130 per term
Children (ages 8-11)
Classes: Mondays, 6:30pm – 7:45pm
Fees: $150 per term
Youth (ages 12-17)
Classes: Mondays 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Fees: $160 per term
Adults (ages 18+)
Classes: Mondays 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm
Fees: $170 per term

Uniforms
Students may order a gi (karate uniform) from their head instructor, but it’s not a requirement for training in our dojos. If you do wear a gi, we ask that it is white and without other club affiliation logos on it.
